Awards and Activties

Religious Studies Club

A student-led Religious Studies Club meets every week during the academic year.  Membership is open to any student interested in Religious Studies; you do not have to be a Religious Studies major to join!   Club members organize field trips; discuss current events; promote the knowledge and understanding of religious culture, belief, and tradition; and network with students and faculty to provide a strong resource for the community.  Meetings for the spring 2012 semester will be Wednesday evenings at 7 pm in room 102 of the Highsmith Union.  For more information, check out the club's Facebook site or email to uncarsc@gmail.com.

Departmental Awards

The Department of Religious Studies offers the following recognitions and awards to students:

Departmental Distinction

Graduating seniors in Religious Studies will be recognized for departmental honors if they have attained an overall GPA of at least 3.5 and a GPA in the major of at least 3.8.

Outstanding Academic Achievement in Religious Studies

This award recognizes graduating seniors who have earned a 4.0 GPA in the Religious Studies major.

Academic Excellence in Religious Studies

This award recognizes graduating seniors who have earned between a 3.5-3.99 GPA in the Religious Studies major.

Excellence in Undergraduate Research and Scholarship

Students who complete any type of designated undergraduate research project in Religious Studies (including the senior thesis) are eligible for this award upon the recommendation of the faculty.  Competition for this award is open to both Religious Studies majors and minors.

Outstanding Service or Leadership

This award recognizes those students who make substantial contributions to the department through their service or leadership.
