Students Present Research at Conference

Three Religious Studies majors presented their research projects at the annual meeting of the North Carolina Religious Studies Association in Chapel Hill on November 5. Hannah Barrineau queried “What is the Relationship Between the Buddhist Notion of Suffering and the Psychological Impacts on the Tibetan Government in Exile?”; while Sean McBride discussed religion and popular culture in his presentation on "Illegal Tender: The Social Gospel and Innocent Rebellion in Musical Film.” Carson Nickels presented his research on one time-Asheville resident William Dudley Pelley in a paper entitled “Mystical Fascism: How William Dudley Pelley's Mysticism Contributed to American Anti-Semitism and Fascism.” See the complete NCRSA 2011 program.
